Medical cannabis is legal in New Hampshire. The state's medical marijuana program, known as the Therapeutic Cannabis Program, was established in 2013. Adult-use (recreational) cannabis remains illegal.

  • Spinal cord injury or disease
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Epilepsy
  • Lupus
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Alzheimer's disease
  • Ulcerative colitis
  • Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
  • Moderate to severe chronic pain
  • Severe pain that has not responded to previously prescribed medication
  • Moderate or severe post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • Moderate or severe insomnia
  • Opioid use disorder (only if provider is actively treating patient for opioid use disorder)
  • New Hampshire allows telemedicine for follow-up appointments but requires the initial certification to be done in person.

Step 2

Register with the New Hampshire Therapeutic Cannabis Program.

Step 3

Pay the application fee and submit required documentation.

  • Application fee ($50 as of 2024)
  • Visit the New Hampshire Therapeutic Cannabis Program website
  • Complete the online application
  • Upload required documents, including provider certification
  • Pay the application fee
  • Await approval (processing time typically 3-5 business days)
  • Obtain a new certification from a qualified provider
  • Submit a renewal application online
  • Pay the renewal fee ($50 as of 2024)
  • Renew annually
