Maryland Cannabis Laws and Regulations

Both medical and adult-use (recreational) cannabis are legal in Maryland. Medical cannabis was legalized in 2014, and adult-use cannabis was legalized in 2022 with sales beginning on July 1, 2023.

Maryland allows telemedicine for medical cannabis consultations, including initial certifications and renewals.

Step 2

Register with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC).

Step 3

Pay the application fee and submit required documentation.

Valid Maryland driver's license or state ID
Proof of residency
Provider certification
Application fee ($50)

Visit the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission website
Complete the online application
Upload required documents, including provider certification
Pay the application fee
Await approval (usually within 3-5 business days)

Obtain a new certification from a registered provider
Submit a renewal application online
Pay the renewal fee ($50)
Renew annually
