Maine Cannabis Laws and Regulations

Both medical and adult-use (recreational) cannabis are legal in Maine. Medical marijuana was legalized in 1999, and adult-use cannabis was legalized in 2016 with sales beginning in October 2020.

Maine allows telemedicine for medical cannabis consultations, including initial certifications and renewals.

Step 2

Register with the Maine Medical Use of Marijuana Program (optional as of 2018).

Step 3

Pay the application fee and submit required documentation if choosing to register.
