Both medical and adult-use (recreational) cannabis are legal in Maryland. Medical cannabis was legalized in 2014, and adult-use cannabis was legalized in 2022 with sales beginning on July 1, 2023.

  • Glaucoma
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Chronic pain
  • Maryland allows telemedicine for medical cannabis consultations, including initial certifications and renewals.

Step 2

Register with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC).

Step 3

Pay the application fee and submit required documentation.

Patient Registration & Eligibility Requirements

  • Valid Maryland driver's license or state ID
  • Proof of residency
  • Provider certification
  • Application fee ($50)
  • Visit the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission website
  • Complete the online application
  • Upload required documents, including provider certification
  • Pay the application fee
  • Await approval (usually within 3-5 business days)
  • Obtain a new certification from a registered provider
  • Submit a renewal application online
  • Pay the renewal fee ($50)
  • Renew annually
